You Are Exactly Who God Made You To Be

Posted by Christin N Hunt on Thursday, November 29, 2012, In : Reflections

This quote has meant the world to me recently and I wanted share its origin with you, my dear readers.  Rachel Anne Ridge of Home Sanctuary is a wealth of wisdom pertaining to creating a home environment which strengthens, encourages and blesses the family.

Please take a few minutes to visit her website, and the context of today's photo-quote, which I have copied below:

Household Schedules for Pathetic Schedulers

I freely admit: I am a pathetic scheduler.

I prefer to think of mysel...

ALL your heart...

Posted by Christin N Hunt on Wednesday, November 21, 2012, In : Promises

With ALL my heart?  Well, how about just the parts I don't care about anymore?  I can surrender my perfectionism, but not my emotions.  I'll happily give Him my ideas and emotions on home and comfort, but if He asks for that part of my heart that harbors my family?  *psshhht!*  The funny thing is that whenever I try to control those pieces of my heart, that's where the chaos lands!  ALL my heart... Well, if He's the one who wired me and who has a plan (a GOOD plan) for my future, I should tru...

Gratitude

Posted by Christin N Hunt on Wednesday, November 21, 2012, In : Reflections

Gratitude.  I've never really had a problem with that.  Whenever anyone gives me a gift (tangible or otherwise) I am able to express my thanks fairly well.  In fact, I'm an AWESOME letter writer.

I am also, however, an awful letter sender.  (Case in point: I recently found a thank-you letter I forgot to send out for a wedding present...  *ahem*  We've been married over 5 years now.)

It really changes with the gift, though.  When I am blessed with something that was otherwise unattainable, in ad...

Plans

Posted by Christin on Thursday, November 15, 2012, In : Promises

Plans.  I like those.  I like making plans and making them happen.

I have all these happy little ducks that I get in a happy little row, but sometimes, when I'm least expecting it, BAM!  All my ducks go scattering!  They run around all crazy, like little fuzzy schizos and sometimes, they don't even know they're my ducks!

And, I betcha, God laughs.

He laughs because I've forgotten that He is the one who made those little ducks and it's HIS plan that matters.  It's HIS plan that will be complete...

Red Pill or Blue Pill... Choose!

Posted by Christin on Wednesday, November 14, 2012,

Unlike Neo in the Matrix, our pill has already been chosen.  As children of the Kingdom, our pill is that of JOY.  Actually, the moment our names are written in the Book of Life we are given an abundance of Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self-control.  It's a package deal.  None of this picking and choosing, claiming and leaving-out nonsense- we get it all!  And among those treasures of the Spirit is JOY.

As Christians, joy is tenderly placed on o...

Powerless (I Don't Have To Be Strong)

Posted by Christin on Wednesday, November 14, 2012, In : Endurance

They're back...
The tears of exhaustion.
The tears of stress.
The tears of fear.

I should know by now that, when my body is tired, my mind fails.  When my mind is in less than top condition I tend to forget things.
  • I forget where I put my keys.
  • I forget to serve lunch.
  • I forget to sing.
  • I forget that I'm not strong enough to handle everything in my day.

I. Am. Powerless.

That pretty much sums it up!  [Case in point, when I leaned my not-quite-30-year old body over to retrieve Thomas the Tank Engine fro...

Rest

Posted by Christin on Wednesday, November 14, 2012, In : Endurance

I don't get much rest these days.  I'm no longer up through the night with an infant (within or without), and most of the teething is over (praise Jesus!), but I'm now left with a body that refuses to sleep.  Oh, I'll get a few hours here and there, and a nap (sometimes) in the day, but for the most part, I am one tired mama!  Couple that with my 4-year old son and 16-month old daughter, both of whom are very energetic, I covet my rest!

There are days, however, when, despite a good night's s...

God Brings Joy

Posted by Christin on Wednesday, November 14, 2012, In : Endurance

Can you imagine a life without Jesus?  Going through all of life's hardships, trials and chaos without His stability to ground our hearts and minds?  Wow...  I'm ashamed to admit that I too often forget how blessed I am!  There is truly no joy outside of Jesus...  And Joy in the midst of trouble?  That's a work of God right there!

It's the Little Things

Posted by Christin on Wednesday, November 14, 2012, In : Promises

Salvation is great.  I mean, the whole 'saved from hell' thing is really nice.  And the part about God being "Love" and lavishly pouring that love on us?  That's neat, too.  Actually, the entirety of who God is, and our privileges as His children is pretty stinkin' awesome!  BUT.  Sometimes God's big love just isn't enough.  It's all well and good that my eternity is sealed in glory.  I love it and it's wonderful.  It's my sanity for the next two hours I'm worried about!
  • Sometimes I run out of...
