Gratitude

Gratitude.  I've never really had a problem with that.  Whenever anyone gives me a gift (tangible or otherwise) I am able to express my thanks fairly well.  In fact, I'm an AWESOME letter writer.

I am also, however, an awful letter sender.  (Case in point: I recently found a thank-you letter I forgot to send out for a wedding present...  *ahem*  We've been married over 5 years now.)

Unlike Neo in the Matrix, our pill has already been chosen.  As children of the Kingdom, our pill is that of JOY.  Actually, the moment our names are written in the Book of Life we are given an abundance of Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self-control.  It's a package deal.  None of this picking and choosing, claiming and leaving-out nonsense- we get it all!  And among those treasures of the Spirit is JOY.

Powerless (I Don't Have To Be Strong)

They're back...
The tears of exhaustion.
The tears of stress.
The tears of fear.

I should know by now that, when my body is tired, my mind fails.  When my mind is in less than top condition I tend to forget things.
  • I forget where I put my keys.
  • I forget to serve lunch.
  • I forget to sing.
  • I forget that I'm not strong enough to handle everything in my day.

I. Am. Powerless.

God Brings Joy

Can you imagine a life without Jesus?  Going through all of life's hardships, trials and chaos without His stability to ground our hearts and minds?  Wow...  I'm ashamed to admit that I too often forget how blessed I am!  There is truly no joy outside of Jesus...  And Joy in the midst of trouble?  That's a work of God right there!
